HOW TO INSTALL RECESSED D-RINGS – A GUIDE TO DIMENSIONS & MOUNTING
4 Basic Installation Steps:
1. Choose a versatile tie-down spot that will be convenient for all kinds of loads. Corners of truck beds and trailers are often optimal.
2. Mark off the exact spot you you wish to install the D-ring.
3. With a hole saw and chisel, use the center spot to cut a 3″ hole that gradually advances from 9/16″ deep to 1-1/8″ deep because the recessed pan fitting is deeper on one side. You may prefer to cut the hole all the way through.
4. The recessed pan fitting has four pre-drilled square holes – one in each corner. If you are using a backplate (NOT INCLUDED), place it on the trailer underside; secure each carriage bolt with a washer and nut on the other side of the mounting surface. That’s it!
