A mandrel is a spindle or axle which holds the blade of a mower deck in place.
It is connected to a pulley or gearbox, which transmits power from the engine to the blade.
The mandrel spins the blade, allowing it to cut grass.
How do you replace a mandrel on a lawn mower?
1. Park the mower on a flat surface and turn off the engine.
2. Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
3. Remove the blade from the mandrel by unscrewing the bolt that holds it in place.
4. Use a wrench to loosen the mounting nuts on the mandrel and slide the old mandrel off.
5. Slide the new mandrel onto the mounting bolts and secure it in place with the nuts.
6. Reattach the blade to the mandrel using the bolt.
7. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
8. Start the engine and check for proper operation.
