How to Replace a Mandrel Assembly on a Riding Lawn Mower?
1. Park the riding lawn mower on a flat, level surface and turn off the engine.

2. Pull the spark plug wire off the spark plug and lay it aside.

3. Remove the mower deck from the mower by unscrewing the four bolts that hold the deck in place.
Lift the deck off the mower.

4. Set the deck aside and locate the mandrel assembly on the mower.
The mandrel assembly is typically located beneath the engine.

5. Unscrew the bolts that secure the mandrel assembly to the mower using a wrench.
Pull the mandrel assembly off the mower.

6. Install the new mandrel assembly in the same position as the old one.
Secure the mandrel assembly with the bolts.

7. Reinstall the mower deck onto the mower and secure it with the four bolts.

8. Reconnect the spark plug wire.

9. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
